Appointments within BPCE in Payments and Open Banking: Frédéric Burtz appointed CEO of Payments and Laurent Monéger named Chief Innovation & Open Banking Officer
Groupe BPCE announces two new appointments within BPCE Digital & Payments:
- Frédéric Burtz has been appointed CEO of Payments. In this new role, he will remain Chief Executive Officer of BPCE Payment Services and become Chairman of Payplug.
- Laurent Monéger, already Chief Innovation Officer, will broaden his responsibilities to include Open Banking, while also becoming Chair of Xpollens.
Frédéric Burtz and Laurent Monéger will report directly to Yves Tyrode, Chief Executive Officer Digital & Payments of Groupe BPCE.
These changes are consistent with Groupe BPCE’s Vision 2030 strategic plan and its objective of strengthening the Group’s position as a major player in the payments sector.
Profile of Frédéric Burtz
Currently CEO of Payments, Frédéric Burtz was previously Chief Technology & Innovation Officer of BPCE Digital & Payments and managed the Group’s digital platform and data starting in 2016. Under his guidance, Groupe BPCE accelerated its digital and technological transformation and supported the networks with their digitalization. Frédéric Burtz began his career with France Telecom, before moving to Capgemini where he helped develop fixed and mobile networks and then worked on the subject of digital transformation and its impact on corporate models. From 2011 to 2016, he took part in SNCF’s digital transformation and contributed to the development of Voyages-sncf.com, France’s leading e-commerce site.
Frédéric Burtz, 57, is a graduate of Ecole polytechnique et de Télécom Paris.
Profile of Laurent Monéger
Laurent Monéger has been Chief Innovation Officer of Groupe BPCE since 2022. He began his career in strategy consulting (BCG, Oliver Wyman), before becoming Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer at Groupe SFR. He then joined AXA, where he was notably responsible for an international business unit of property & casualty insurance products. Aged 52, he is a graduate of Ecole polytechnique et de Télécom Paris
