Global Markets Commodities appointments within Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking

Paris, France, February 4, 2019

Natixis is pleased to announce two senior appointments within its Global Markets Commodities (GMC) business, part of Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), as it pursues its strategy to further enhance its strategic dialogue with clients in the commodities sector.

Marc Mourre is appointed Executive Chairman of Global Markets Commodities, effective immediately. He reports to Dominique Fraisse, Global Head of Energy & Natural Resources, CIB, and locally to Serge Ekué, Senior Country Manager, United Kingdom, CIB and Head of Global Markets, CIB for EMEA. Marc has been with Natixis since 2017, first as a Senior Advisor to GMC and then, from October 2017, as Global Head of GMC.

Claude Lixi is appointed Global Head of Global Markets Commodities, effective immediately. He reports to Marc Mourre and to Luc François, Head of Global Markets and member of Natixis’ Executive Committee. Claude joined Natixis in December 2017 as a Senior Advisor to GMC and was appointed Global Head of Trading for GMC in September 2018.

Marc Mourre began his career in Hong Kong at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Cultural Attaché, before moving to Total in the international trading oil division where he spent over four years as a crude oil trader. In 1986, Marc joined Morgan Stanley to set up the London commodities trading office. He moved to Singapore in 1990 to head the commodities trading and marketing operations until 1995 when he returned to London as Global Head of Commodities Marketing and Business Development. He became Vice Chairman of the Commodities Division and Chairman of the African business effort for Morgan Stanley until early 2016, when he established Mourre & Co Ltd, an advisory firm specialising in the oil and gas industry. He joined Natixis as a special advisor to Global Markets Commodities (GMC), Corporate & Investment Banking, in March 2017 and was named Head of GMC in October 2017. Marc holds a Master of Science in business administration from Sup. de co. Marseille, a D.E.A in Business Administration from ESSEC/IAE Aix en Provence and a D.E.S.S in international trade and transportation from Aix Marseille University.

Claude Lixi began his career in 1996 at Elf Trading (now Totalfina Elf) before moving to TFS in 1998. He joined BP in 2000, spending seven years with the firm in London and Chicago, establishing and running its worldwide oil options proprietary trading business and serving as global co-head of the oil derivatives trading and marketing teams. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2007 as a senior options trader in the oil derivatives trading desk. Claude joined Trafigura Group in Geneva in 2009, establishing and managing its energy trading fund. In 2013 he moved to Gunvor, also in Geneva, developing the firm’s proprietary options trading activity. Claude joined Natixis in London in December 2017 as a Senior Advisor to Global Markets Commodities (GMC), Corporate & Investment Banking, and was appointed Global Head of Trading for GMC in September 2018. Claude graduated from the Institut National des Telecommunications (now Institut Mines-Telecom business school, Paris, France) and holds a postgraduate in International Finance from HEC (Paris, France).
