Natixis Payments uses nexo standards to support merchants in the new European payment landscape
Natixis Payments has opted for the free, universally applicable international payment acceptance standards from nexo standards, which ensure card payment and mobile payment interoperability, for both traditional card and contactless transactions.
These standards have now been included in the acceptance platform used by Carrefour, a global leader and the reference in food retail. Meanwhile, nexo standards also enable Natixis Payments to more easily and swiftly design new innovative services, as an in-flight mobile device/tablet payment service for airlines.
“This move confirms Natixis Payments’ position as a key player in designing the new European payment services landscape for merchants, as we seek to support them in addressing the challenges of today’s world i.e. productivity gains, data access, international expansion and improved service quality for both merchants and consumers” explains Jean-Luc Thérond, deputy CEO of Natixis Payments and member of the nexo standards board.
Natixis Payments is a Principal member of the nexo standards association and plays an active role in adopting and implementing these international standards.

nexo is an open, global association dedicated to removing the barriers present in today’s fragmented global card payment acceptance ecosystem. nexo has been the very first organisation to design and develop card payment messages based on ISO 20022. The delivery of universal standard and protocols messages ensure the interoperability of different equipment and payment systems, internationally. Headquartered in Brussels, its members represent the full spectrum of card payments stakeholders, including acceptors, processors, card schemes, payment service providers and vendors. nexo standards was established in 2014, when three historical contributors of card payment standards and specifications were merged: EPASOrg, the OSCar consortium and the CIR SEPA-Fast technical working group.
