Natixis announces new CIB appointments for APAC

Hong Kong, September 27, 2016

Natixis is pleased to announce a number of senior appointments as part of a new setup for its Asia Pacific Corporate & Investment Banking platform.

Following the new organization implemented at Natixis CIB, this setup aims to continue the bank's expansion in the region, implementing its ambitions as laid out in the 2014-17 strategic plan, namely a fully client-centric approach, the prioritization of asset-light businesses, and the further internationalization of Natixis’ operations.

As part of this new setup, three new business lines are created:

  • Global Finance headed by Bruno Le Saint, housing the departments of Global Energy & Commodities; Aviation, Export & Infrastructure and a new Global Portfolio Management department.
  • Coverage & Global Transaction Banking headed by Damien Cleris, housing Corporate Coverage, Financial Institution & Public Sector Coverage, Global Transaction Banking and Commercial Banking.
  • Investment Banking headed by Raghu Narain, reporting to Damien Cleris and Bruno Le Saint as co-Heads of Investment Banking. The business line houses the departments of Corporate Advisory, including M&A; Strategic Equity Transactions; Acquisition & Strategic Finance and Debt Capital Markets.

Damien Cleris is Head of Coverage & Global Transaction Banking, Asia Pacific, with responsibility for Corporate Coverage, Financial Institutions & Public Sector (FIPS) Coverage, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) and Commercial Banking. He is also co-Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific, in which capacity he jointly oversees Corporate Advisory, including M&A; Strategic Equity Transactions; Acquisition & Strategic Finance and Debt Capital Markets. Damien is a member of the Executive Committee of Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, Asia Pacific.

Damien has 17 years of coverage, corporate finance and management experience within the banking industry. He began his career in 1999 at Crédit Agricole Indosuez, now Crédit Agricole CIB, as Relationship Manager in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In 2001 he joined CSC Peat Marwick in Paris as a Financial Services Consultant. In 2004 he joined Groupe Caisse d’Epargne, now Groupe BPCE, in the Group Audit department, where he was successively Auditor, Team Leader and Deputy Head in charge of supervising auditing of Natixis’ activities. In 2009 he transferred to Natixis, in Group Strategy. He was named Head of Strategy for Corporate & Investment Banking in 2010, and Head of Strategy & Business Development for Corporate & Investment Banking in 2012. He moved to Hong Kong in 2013 as Head of Corporate Coverage & Advisory, Asia Pacific, and took up his current roles in August 2016.

Damien has a Master in Management degree, specialized in Finance, from ESSCA business school, Paris.

Bruno le Saint is Head of Global Finance, Asia Pacific at Natixis, with responsibility for the Global Energy & Commodities; Aviation, Export & Infrastructure; and Global Portfolio Management departments. He is also co-Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific, in which capacity he jointly oversees Corporate Advisory, including M&A; Strategic Equity Transactions; Acquisition & Strategic Finance and Debt Capital Markets. Bruno is a member of the Executive Committee of Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, Asia Pacific.

Bruno began his career in 1998 at Crédit Agricole Indosuez (now Crédit Agricole CIB) in the Syndication Department, before moving to PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 1999, where he performed financial audits and corporate finance projects in the telecom sector. He joined Natexis Banques Populaires, now Natixis, in 2001 as Relationship Manager in charge of European mid-cap corporate coverage. He moved to the Commodities department in 2005 to develop the CIS steel sector, was made responsible for the CIS Metals Producer team at Natixis in 2008, and in 2010 was named head of the Agri-Commodity Department within Global Energy & Commodities. Bruno moved to Hong Kong with Natixis in 2013 as Head of Structured & Asset Finance, Asia Pacific, and was appointed to his current roles in August 2016.

Bruno is a graduate of the Institut National des Télécommunications and Paris IX - Dauphine University in finance, and is an Alumni of Kellogg’s-HKUST Executive MBA (KH 19). In addition to French and English, he speaks Russian and Spanish.

HEAD OF INVESTMENT BANKING, ASIA PACIFIC

Raghu Narain is Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific at Natixis, with responsibility for Corporate Advisory, Strategic Equity Transactions; Acquisition & Strategic Finance and Debt Capital Markets.

Raghu has over 17 years of corporate and investment banking experience. He has originated and closed over 100 transactions and more than US$75 billion in advisory and financings across the US and Asia, including with Salomon Smith Barney / Citigroup, Bank of America where he started the Global Transportation Group and RBS where he was Head of Sector Advisory and Global Industrials Group. Raghu joined Natixis in Hong Kong in July 2015 as  Head of Corporate Advisory, Asia Pacific, and was appointed to his current role in August 2016.

Raghu has a Master’s degree from Harvard University and is a member of United Nations ESCAP Sustainable Business Network taskforces.
