Natixis Bolsters South East Asia Team to Capture Further Growth in the Region

Francois Riahi, CEO, Corporate & Investment Banking, Asia Pacific, said the senior appointments are part of Natixis’ commitment to further enhance its offerings and expand its client base in South East Asia. The three appointments are:

• Boon Tan, Head of Corporate Coverage and Client Management, South East & South Asia;
• Iris Chia, Executive Director, Corporate Coverage, Singapore; and

• Weng Foo Yip, Executive Director, Financial Institutions and Public Sector Coverage, South East Asia.

“South East Asia is a key region for Natixis and these top class additions to our coverage team are part of an ongoing long-term investment that reflects our commitment to growing our presence in the region and bringing value to our clients in this highly competitive market,” Mr Riahi said.

Natixis’ Senior Country Manager for Singapore and Head of South East & South Asia, Pin Chua, said that the appointments of Boon Tan, who previously served as Senior Country Manager, Malaysia at Natixis, Iris Chia and Weng Foo Yip marked a significant expansion of Natixis’ coverage team in Singapore.

“We are delighted to announce these appointments and I look forward to working closely with the three impressive individuals to further strengthen Natixis’ presence in the region,” Mr Chua said.

Boon Tan

Boon Tan has been appointed Head of Corporate Coverage and Client Management, South & South East Asia. Based in Singapore, he reports to Damien Cleris, Head of Corporate Coverage & Client Management, Asia Pacific, and locally to Pin Chua, Senior Country Manager, Singapore and Head of South East & South Asia.

Prior to taking up his current role, Boon was Senior Country Manager, Malaysia, a position he held since joining Natixis in 2011.

Boon began his banking career in 1987 with The Bank of New York, working in the bank’s head office before moving to its Singapore Branch in 1992. In 1995 he joined Credit Suisse First Boston as Branch Manager, Labuan Branch, and in 1999 moved to Credit Agricole Indosuez as General Manager, Labuan Branch.

In 2004 he joined Credit Agricole SA’s subsidiary company, Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank, as Senior Banker, Financial Institutions Group in Singapore, before being appointed Chief Representative and Senior Country Officer, Malaysia. Between 2009 and 2011 he worked on casino financing projects, first as a consultant to Kien Huat Realty Limited and then as Director of Business Development at Genting New York LLC.

Boon has an MBA from Stern School of Management, New York University, and was admitted as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, in Computer Science from Brandeis University, Massachusetts.

Iris Chia

Iris Chia has joined Natixis as Executive Director – Corporate Coverage, Singapore, reporting to Boon Tan, Head of Corporate Coverage and Client Management, South & South East Asia.

Prior to joining Natixis, Iris was Executive Director, Client Coverage at Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore, where she worked for 10 years covering multi-national corporations, Asian conglomerates and large Singaporean corporate clients. Before this she was with DBS Bank in Singapore where she started her banking career working in the Real Estate and Debt Capital Markets teams.

Iris holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Master of Science (Applied Finance) degree from National University of Singapore.

Weng Foo Yip

Weng Foo Yip has joined Natixis as Executive Director, Financial Institutions and Public Sector Coverage, South East Asia. Based in Singapore, he reports to Daniel Yap, Head of Financial Institutions and Public Sector Coverage, Asia Pacific and locally to Pin Chua, Senior Country Manager, Singapore and Head of South East & South Asia.

Before joining Natixis, Weng Foo was with Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Limited in Hong Kong as Director of the Structured Business Group, Fixed Income. Prior to this he was Director, Marketing & Structuring, Fixed Income at UBS AG Investment Bank in Hong Kong, and earlier was in the Financial Institutions Coverage team at BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Bank in Singapore.

He holds a Master of Business and a Bachelor of Business degree from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, UK.
