Natixis Rugby Cup 2014 brings Racing Metro 92 back to Hong Kong
Natixis, Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC) and Racing Metro 92, supported by the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union, are pleased to announce that the Natixis Rugby Cup 2014 will take place on 15th November 2014 at Hong Kong Football Club.
Legendary TOP-14 French rugby team Racing Metro 92 will take on HKFC Rugby Section, one of Hong Kong’s oldest and most venerable rugby clubs, in a first-of-a-kind exhibition match between the two Natixis-sponsored teams.
The match will kick off at 3:00 pm on 15th November 2014. Entry is free, and Natixis and HKFC encourage rugby fans in Hong Kong to come along to enjoy the event.
Natixis has sponsored Racing Metro 92 since 2007, and last year brought the team to Hong Kong to take on fellow TOP-14 club Stade Toulousain in the inaugural Natixis Rugby Cup in Hong Kong. Natixis recently became title sponsor of HKFC Rugby Section, and this year’s Rugby Cup will bring together the two teams playing under the Natixis name and logo.
Francois Riahi, Chief Executive Officer Natixis Wholesale Banking, Asia Pacific, said: “Natixis has long been an active supporter of rugby, and we are proud of our long term partnership with Racing Metro 92 and our new sponsorship of HKFC Rugby Section. Paris is our global headquarters and Hong Kong our headquarters for Asia Pacific. Therefore a game between a prestigious Paris team and a prestigious Hong Kong team both wearing Natixis’ jerseys couldn’t be more exciting for us.”
David Slater, Chairman of HKFC Rugby Section, commented on the Natixis Rugby Cup: “The HKFC Rugby Section is delighted to see the level of commitment and involvement shown by our new title sponsor, Natixis. Their sponsorship has enabled us to implement programs that will provide long term development for all our players from the first time they pick up a rugby ball until they, hopefully, represent Hong Kong. Taking on the other Natixis-sponsored rugby team will be a big challenge for the Hong Kong Football Club Presidents XV, but we aim to provide good competition on the pitch and camaraderie off it.”
Arnaud Tourtoulou, CEO of Racing Metro 92 says that the inaugural Natixis Rugby Cup Hong Kong in 2013 left the whole Racing Metro 92 team with lasting
memories. “It’s a great honor and a pleasure to return to Hong Kong and to participate in the second Natixis Rugby Cup. We are delighted to be hosted for our training sessions by the prestigious HKFC. We hope that many people in Hong Kong will come to watch the game and that everyone will enjoy the event. The team will do its best not to let down its fans.”
